VENI, VIDI…I WENT BACK TO BED

Posted by Daniel S. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, In : books

SO much hype these days about new opportunities to “make money fast” — I call persons who heed and act on this type of call “Fast Eddies” — when, in fact, the only institution that really “makes money” is a mint, and nowadays, only representations of money, being illusions representing the great illusion, money. It isn’t altogether inappropriate to try to “make money,” though counterfeiting is indeed a federal crime — a no-no in the all to human game of money, which, w...

SNIPETS AND SNAILS AND PUPPYDOG TALES

Posted by Daniel S. on Sunday, June 19, 2022, In : Knowledge/Wisdom

YES, that’s an intended paraphrase of the adage, “What are little boys made of? What are little boys made of? Snips, snails And puppy-dogs’ tails That’s what little boys are made of” In case you’re wondering, other stanzas concern girls, babies, young men, young women, sailors, soldiers, nurses, fathers, mothers, old men, old women, and all folks are made of [sic]. But, hey, while the world waxes non-binary, I still catch myself thinking in terms of male and female. Forgive me. It...

THE “GHOST” IN THE GHOST

Posted by Daniel S. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, In : books

IN my Amazon-genre-bestseller, THE EDGE OF MADNESS (Aignos 2020) by Raymond Gaynor — https://www.amazon.com/dp/0999693859, now available in printed, digital and “free” audiobook format, I describe an encounter between the male and female protagonists in which one, while going to work, sends a “proxy self” to the other who has just awakened back at their domicile. Eh? What’s a “proxy self” you ask? Think of sending a loved one a greeting card, greeting message by phone, or text...

TGIF

Posted by Daniel S. on Friday, April 8, 2022, In : books and movies

MEANING, “Thank God it’s Friday,” right? Well, it IS Friday, and I for one am plenty thankful for the start of another weekend, BUT, what I meant was “Thank God(dess) it’s functioning,” whether referring to one’s body (and it’s various parts), our home appliances, the internet, our government (though many would question this), the police or the United Nations. With the slow but significant exit of baby-boomers and the rise of Generation Whatever, I’m reminded of WILLIAM MALT...

THE NEED FOR SPEED

Posted by Daniel S. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, In : books

YESTERDAY about noon I was driving on the H1 freeway in Hawaii to the North Shore for some much needed R&R. The speed limit where the freeway passes through Honolulu is 45 miles per hour. The lanes are small, the cars are big and H1 being the major East-West artery, totally crowded. What was freaky was that I was the only one going the speed limit. Not the minimum or recommended, but the speed LIMIT. My estimate was that everyone around me was going at least 55, with some easily entering the ...

HUMANITY'S DAY

Posted by Daniel S. on Monday, December 25, 2017, In : holidays
It's Christmas Day, and, irrespective of one's religion, it is, in many ways, the ultimate humanity day. True, it's constantly being assaulted by individual religions vying for supremacy, businesses vying for participant's money, and hackers attempting to steal identities and information, but over the centuries, it has remained the epitome of humanism. It remains a day of reflection on all that makes us human.

Religions are social clubs consisting of humans garnering others to share in and va...
