HAPPY BIRTHMONTH!

Posted by Daniel S. on Friday, March 29, 2024, In : books and movies
AS my friends know, I’m not one for remembering to celebrate birthdays. Other people’s that is. Instead, I favor a new tradition: Happy Birthmonth or at the least Happy Birthweek. No more of that ever-so-fleeting “Happy Birthday” stuff with any suggestion of Happy Birthhour, Birthminute or Birthsecond either ludicrous or simply insufficient. These times seem made for more, though I put my foot down at Happy Birthyear as that translates into one continuous celebration and endless party...

HOW IMPORTANT ARE MOVIES?

Posted by Daniel S. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, In : books and movies

IN my Amazon genre bestselling book, THE EDGE OF MADNESS (Aignos 2020) by Raymond Gaynor — https://www.amazon.com/dp/0999693859 — I lay the foundations for my “Philosophia Psychís Empeiría” which I expand in the upcoming sequel PROPHECY, which is nearing completion. In essence, the “soul” is the sum total of one’s life experiences, and acts as the “guide” to the next universe. Not simply another world in space/time, but an entirely different universe of worlds, each accord...

COMMUNICATING WITH THE DEAD AND THE YET-TO-BE BORN

Posted by Daniel S. on Sunday, February 5, 2023, In : books

SHADES of Houdini! In the tradition of Thomas Edison, Mae West, Queen Victoria, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Mary Todd Lincoln — https://www.history.com/news/spiritualism-communication-dead-figures — and my own works, THE EDGE OF MADNESS (Aignos 2020) by Raymond Gaynor — https://www.amazon.com/dp/0999693859 — and its yet to be published sequel PROPHECY there’s a first inkling of such! In these two books, I explore the idea that birth and death constitute an entrance and exit from our...

THE EDGE OF MADNESS by Raymond Gaynor - Excerpt #1 (This Excerpt is PG-rated)

Posted by Daniel S. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, In : books

Although he wouldn't completely understand it until much later, it began well before he was born a pudgy-looking, seven and a half pound naked ball of flesh, fat, gristle and bone, screaming its head off. And why shouldn't he have protested? Every trusted thing he'd known had been ripped from him: the constant warmth; the gentle, protective floating feeling; the ruddy aura that had always surrounded and protected him, the ever-present thump-hiss, thump-hiss, thump-hiss in the background that,...

363-1/4 UN-BIRTHDAYS!

Posted by Daniel S. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, In : holidays

DURING these difficult times of unprecedented change, it’s easy to fall into a kind of blank-like despair. What’s important is to remember that life is the journey, and at least to some extent, we make our journey. One thing of which I like to remind myself during times like these, is that while I may have only one birthday a year to celebrate, I have 363-1/4 Un-Birthdays, all of which deserve celebrating, if only because I’m alive for another day.

But how to celebrate an Un-Birthday? ...

IT’S THE FOURTH OF JULY — ISN’T IT?

Posted by Daniel S. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, In : dance

IT all started with lunch. One of my personal favorite lunch recipes is Japanese-Alaskan Potato Salad. Whoa, there! I can hear you saying, so here it is, basically: Yukon potatoes (boiled with skin on), cucumbers (very thinly sliced, the juice squeezed out), mayo (we use veggie mayo for a more adult taste), carrot (again, very thin sliced), white onion broccoli and/or celery (again very thinly sliced), a sprinkling of roasted sesame seeds. The object is to keep it simple. Yum. On the other ha...

THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS A UNIFIED FIELD THEORY

Posted by Daniel S. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, In : books

THIS IS A BIGGIE! I read in the news today about a mathematical solution to bridging the gap between Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. It seems the preeminent physicist Professor Steven Hawking before he passed, left the world with the Hawking Paradox: basically, “Einstein’s general theory of relativity says information about what goes into a black hole cannot come out, but quantum mechanics says that is impossible” — https://www.bbc.com/news/science-env...

COMMON SENSE

Posted by Daniel S. on Monday, October 11, 2021, In : books

OR should that read “Common Cents?” Certainly in today’s world money and power always “Trump” sense. But what I’m cogitating on is the first word, “common.” To me, common implies commonality, something we share with each other as humans, with animals as fellow animals, plants as, well, living things just living a bit slower, sometimes longer but certainly different from ourselves. I don’t think there’s much “common” sense left these days, replaced instead by “uncommo...

BIRTHDAY WISHES

Posted by Daniel S. on Thursday, July 5, 2018, In : health care reform etc.
The fourth of July is when everyone American celebrates the birth of the United States of America, right? Maybe. But I've always believed that it's the day when the world celebrates MY birthday, replete with fireworks. Like Yankee Doodle Dandy, I've always been a firecracker, and I guess I will be until I pass from this crazy world. In the meantime, I bring that energy into "thinking outside the box" in everything I do.

Take education, for instance. A university professor for over 40 years, I...
