The upcoming JET Progress production of OTOSOTU (pronounced “Oh-Toe-So-Two” for “On The Other Side Of The Universe”) is an exploration of the other side of the universe and one particular form it might take. When Commander Michael Mylo (played by Daniel S. Janik), his Astership Twilon and crew abruptly disappear on THIS side of the universe, they find, on the other side, innumerable planets with technologies far beyond anything imaginable on his side. Upon return, he must convince his Imperax colleagues, particularly his critically religious wife, Carol (played by Sakura Kai aka Setsuko Tsuchiya) not only of the existence of such “just waiting for humans to explore and utilize,” but also provide an explanation of how he purportedly travelled in his contemporary spaceship without new propulsion technology.

OTOSOTU is an unusual film in that it exemplifies a new genre of book or film, namely Sci-Fu or science-based futuring, rather than science fiction or fantasy. As such, all the technologies in OTOSOTU are plausible extensions of current Earth technologies. So, let’s start with the first one: Instantaneous travel throughout the universe.

Currently there are three theories of existence (and probably more to come), based on the ancient Greek concept of vibration. The first, called “String Theory” posits a 10-dimensional universe. The second, M-Theory posits 11, while Closed Unoriented Bosonic String Theory posits 26, all beyond the classic four-dimensions (width, height, depth and time). While the classic four can be physically experienced, additional dimensions are probably not, but one result adding additional dimensions is a sort of infolding of space-time where all points in the universe briefly exist simultaneously. Hence, in OTOSOTU, it is quite feasible to travel instantly to the other side of the universe, requiring only precise knowledge of the dimensions of the starting point and destination. In support, I present, among others, Dr. Michio Kaku, physicist, mathematician, futurologist and noted author for enjoyment and edification: https://mkaku.org/home/articles/m-theory-the-mother-of-all-superstrings/
