A LOOK AT THE SOUL
May 3, 2024JET Progress/Draqual Media’s new film, OTOSOTU (pronounced “Oh-Toe-So-Two” for “On The Other Side Of The Universe”), while admittedly an interesting Sci-Fu (science future rather than science fiction or fantasy) work, offers serious viewers a moment to reflect on the nature of the human soul.
I have long held that the soul, the “guide” from this to the next life, is the sum-total of all our life experiences, a sort of meta-tag or SEO that determines which oportunities will be afforded us in the afterlife. If so, then OTOSOTU, in which disembodied spirits who have lost but still long for the senses, the pleasures of procreation and empathy, desire to “ride” in the bodies of humans, in return for the humans within whom they “ride,” both immortality and omniscience. The result is a conflict between a father, Commander Michael Mylo, the wife/mother/religious leader Carol Mylo and their son, Captain-Major Brit Mylo. The question is what is immortality and omniscience worth? Is it worth the possibility of “losing one’s soul” and ultimately the evolution of humanity?
OTOSOTU is a spiritual journey unlike anything before. What it’s NOT, however, is a religious journey, in the future, religion being relegated to the “business of spirituality” rather than spirituality itself. The trailer is out. The teaser is coming. The film is awaiting immanent release. “OTOSOTU: Where science meets the soul, and choices shape our destiny.”
